Alameda County Leather Corps (ACLC) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the East Bay community.

Originally loosely organized as a part of the Imperial Star Empire of Alameda County, the first Mr. Alameda County Leather contest was staged in 1992.

ACLC in its current incarnation was formally organized in 1993.

Our primary mission is to provide education, fund-raising and fellowship.

Our Bylaws state: The purpose for which this corporation is organized is to promote educational and charitable activities through social interaction among people with an interest in leather, Levi's and uniforms.

From 1993 to 2007, ACLC has given $200,000 to charities serving Alameda County, including the AIDS Emergency Fund, We Care Bay Area, AIDS Project of the East Bay, Center for AIDS Services, Children's Hospital of Oakland, Shelter Against Violent Environments, Lambda Youth Group, Tri-Valley Health Services, Inter-Club Fund, Project Sunburst, In Memory Fund, and many more.

Our most important goal: locate and assist small service providers and agencies not receiving large government or corporate grants. We assist those most in need.

ACLC's fundraising includes special events such as Santa's Slave Auction, the Leather Elegance Ball, and our annual Mr./Ms. Alameda County Leather Contest.

ACLC doesn't sponsor "play parties" or similar sexual events.

Our members are neither required nor expected to participate in any type of sexual event as part of their membership.

The club's activities are limited to those outlined in our mission statement.

Membership in ACLC is fairly evenly distributed between men and women. Our members range in age from their 20's to 70's, although most are in the 30 to 50 range.

Interests range from fetish wear (such as those who enjoy wearing, smelling, touching or just looking at leather or latex or whatever) to strong involvement in BD/SM activities.

Lovers of uniforms and Levi's are also well represented within the club, as are motorcycle riders.

And some of us just really get off on supporting favorite local charities.

"But I don't have any leather!"

You don't need any leather to participate in ACLC. Most folks start out with a t-shirt-and-Levi's look, adding wrist or arm bands, boots, a vest, jacket, or other elements as they go along. A full leather look is developed over time, as you discover which items turn you on or make you feel good by wearing them.

You may discover that uniforms are your fetish of choice, or perhaps latex, or ...

While many leather folks choose a fairly "butch" look, others may cultivate a deliberately feminine style.

The only thing to remember about attire: Wear items that make you feel more like you.

Who said you had to know anything about BD/SM (bondage & discipline/sado-masochism)?

BD/SM are only two of the many kinds of play and/or lifestyles that can be found within the leather community.

If that's where your interests lie, you'll find other members to talk with and be introduced to many sources for information on safe and sane play, including how to check out a potential play partner to make sure they're a trusted individual .

ACLC has opportunities to learn about many types of play, and meet a variety of people in many different relationship models.

Exploring the wide variety of the leather world is half the fun!

Vice president:
Passed around a sympathy card for Fawn, and a card for PAWS.
Treasurer's report:
Club dues are now owed. $20 are due to Denise (Treasurer).
No budget yet. Financial books need to be reconciled before budget can be given. Expect one by
November GA.
Top page is transactions from 10/3. These transactions were done on 9/30, but due to bank
error, they weren't posted until 10/3. Statements for October will not be available until November. $56
is for money orders (10 done). The 10 checks that follow are each of the money orders. Check #1044 is
the combined check for end-of-the-year distribution.
Spencer asked why checks and money orders were being done together, instead of simply just
checks or just money orders. Schon and Joan clarified that the 2010 board needed to close their
financial books by 9/30 (end of fiscal year). Because of this, all checks that were given out in that year
also need to be cashed by 9/30. The challenge is that the distribution checks won't be given out until the
Anniversary party on 10/22. That money will be physically in the accounts until the distribution checks
are cashed. In order to properly close out the books for the 2010 fiscal year so that there is no more
money in the 2010 account (and retain 501c3 status), the 2010 board wrote and cashed checks, which
were then turned into money orders so that the money would be then drawn from the account. During
the 2009 board, Billy had a personal account with Wells Fargo, and was able to make money orders for

free. No one on the 2010 board had a personal account with Wells Fargo, and thus had to be charged
$56 dollars to write them. Every board will need to go through this process at the end of their fiscal year.
JJ asked about check 1044. Schon clarified that it's all surplus from last year. $4,000 is carry-
over, and $7,000+ is charitable donation.
Joan pointed out that Check 1044 ($7,439.58) doesn't match the distribution reconciliation page
entry (¡°Donation to Beneficiaries¡± line in ¡°Pending 2011 Payments¡± section) of $7,391.67, with $47.91
difference between the two. Schon cannot give an answer. Schon will talk to Dani, and get back to
Denise about it by Friday (10/14).
Checks 1045-1050 were not included in the report, nor were they given over to Denise. Denise
cannot reconcile the books until checks 1045-1050 are found or cancelled.
Motion to table treasurer's report until next month: Joan
Second: Randy
Vote: Denise, Teri, Schon abstains, Drew opposes, All others approve. Motion Passes.
Titleholder's Report:

Curren: He is currently in discussion with the GSA from Chibeaux, Las Pacitas, and Cal-State East
Bay to involve the Imperial Star, Ducal, and ACLC in a panel discussion. This would be a great way to
get our group out there and increase membership. There is no date set for this event, because the
various groups are still discussing who will be involved, where and when it will be, etc. Chrysty asked
what literature is available for titleholders to take with them. Joan explained that there are trifold
applications, and Billy further pointed that there are display boards, both of which have information.
Steve pointed that reminded that members must be 21+. Chrysty asked about history of ACLC. Is in
books given to board members.
Curren also mentioned another potential social event on the 29th at Turf Club: hold a potluck
meet n greet of Title holders, ACLC, community members, demos, etc. Joan questioned asked if we
would be doing it as an ACLC event. Steve and Joan suggested that the event should be unbannered, or
given over to Larry to avoid liability should something go wrong in the

Kate: Last weekend was Ms SF Leather. She also went to Folsom weekend and had a blast, especially the
Golden Gate Guard Leather Cruise. Most notably, the view (especially the sunset) on the San Francisco
Bay was breathtaking.

Past events:
Blessing of Animals: Drew announced that we raised $100 to go to PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful
Support). Special thanks to Mike for grill.
Upcoming events:
Santa Clara County Leather Association is having their Leather Weekend November 4-6. Most
events are at Renegades. Sunday brunch at Denny's in San Jose. Kate has fliers for more information.
There is a celebration of life for Elena Hall on November 5, 12pm-5pm at the Turf Club. Please
bring a dish to share if you can. Elena was an honorary member of the club, helped the club for years,
and was Fawn's mom.
The 4th Thursday of October, the 27th, is the last ACLC BBQ for the year at the Turf Club, at 5:00,
weather permitting.
